Information Privacy Policy


1. Introduction


Maintaining the privacy of the personal information of users and of other visitors to the iShares Portal (“Portal”) is a constant concern of Banco Barclays S.A. and Barclays Global Investors, N.A. (jointly, “Barclays”), as well as of the administrator. Barclays and the administrator promise to treat the information on their users and visitors to their Portal as confidential.


Barclays is an international financial institution and has databanks in various jurisdictions. The data on users and visitors to the Portal may be transferred to one of its databanks outside of the country, exclusively within Barclays, adhering to the duty of secrecy and guaranty of privacy.


2. Treatment of Data


The information requested by Barclays on the Portal is the minimum necessary for providing and upgrading the services offered.


The data will only be accessed by persons duly qualified and authorized, and who have made a commitment to keep all such data duly secret. The data will be received in encrypted form and will be kept pursuant to strict standards of confidentiality and security.


Barclays will not sell or pass along to third parties the private and personal information acquired from its users and visitors to this Portal without express authorization from the user or in compliance to a judicial order or by force of law.


3. Personal Information and Security


The user or visitor to the Portal must provide his name, e-mail address, and additional contact information. In order to guaranty the security and secrecy of personal data, the creation of a log-in username and password will be requested. The IP of the visitor will be recorded. When the user or visitor sends an e-mail through the Portal, Barclays will collect the name and e-mail data along with all of the information contained in the message.


Responses to Portal surveys will be stored by Barclays. Barclays stores various data on users and visitors in order to improve Portal content and the services provided. Barclays identifies items such as domains and browsers that help determine how the Portal is being used and it reports the statistics obtained so that the technological content can be improved. The Portal also stores information used in searches for content (keywords) and in the use of tables and charts.


Barclays cannot guaranty against the loss, misuse, or alteration of data by hackers or malicious third parties but it does seek to prevent such occurrence using the security measures available to it.


4. Use of Personal Information


The personal information provided by users and visitors to the Portal will be used to confirm the authenticity of the visitor’s identity, to send information on the fund or funds, to respond to e-mails, and so that the Portal and the services provided can be constantly upgraded. The user or the visitor to the Portal may opt not to receive information on the fund or funds by clicking on the My Profile option.


5. Rights


The content of the Portal (text, images, sounds, applications, etc.) is protected by the legislation governing copyright. Alterations, reproductions, storage, copies, distribution, transmission, or any other form of using the text, images, sounds, and/or applications contained in the Portal are not allowed.


The Portal contains links to other websites. Barclays and the administrator are not responsible for information contained on such websites. It is the recommendation of Barclays and of the administrator that all privacy policies are to be read before any personal information is provided.
